New Sesquiterpenoids from the Fermented Broth of Termitomyces albuminosus and Their Anti-Acetylcholinesterase Activity

Abstract: Termitomyces albuminosus is the symbiotic edible mushroom of termites and cannot be artificially cultivated at present. In the project of exploring its pharmaceutical metabolites by microbial fermentation, four new selinane type sesquiterpenoids—teucdiol C (1), D (2), E (3), and F (4), together with two known sesquiterpenoids teucdiol B (5) and epi-guaidiol A (6)—were obtained from its fermented broth of T. albuminosus. Their structures were elucidated by the analysis of NMR data, HR Q-TOF MS spectral data, CD… Show more

“…Previous evidence-based analysis demonstrated that the termite nest contained large amounts of pharmaceutical agents, e.g., polysaccharides, sesquiterpenoids, cerebrosides, heteroglycans, isoflavonoids, etc. (Hua et al, 2015;Lee et al, 2018;Li et al, 2019;Zhao et al, 2019), most of which were well summarized in a previous review (Hsieh and Ju, 2018). Herein, we only compiled a general overview of the newly found active compounds from Termitomyces sp.…”

“…Other two new cerebrosides, named termitomycesphins G (97) and H (98) were later isolated from this mushroom by the same research group [242]. Four new selinane-type sesquiterpenoids, named teucdiol C-F (see structures 99-102 in Figure 18), together with the known compounds teucdiol B (103) and epi-guaidiol A (104) were isolated by from a fermentation broth of T. albuminosus [243]; epiguaidiol A (104) showed potent anti-acetylcholinesterase activity in a dose-dependent manner [243]. Termitomyces albuminosus (Berk.)…”

“…The main chemical components include ergosterol and polysaccharide. Six sesquiterpenoids, teucdiol B-F, and epi-guaidiol A showing anti-acetylcholinesterase activity in a dose-dependent manner have been isolated from the fermented broth of T. albuminosus (Li et al, 2019). Furthermore, eight cerebrosides known as termitomycesphins A-H isolated from T. albuminosus exhibited neuritogenic activity against PC12 cells (Qi et al, 2000;Qu et al, 2012).…”
