New Results from the Muon g - 2 Experiment

Abstract: The Muon g − 2 collaboration has measured the anomalous magnetic g value, a = (g − 2)/2, of the positive muon with an unprecedented uncertainty of 0.7 parts per million. The result a µ + (expt) = 11 659 204(7)(5) × 10 −10 , based on data collected in the year 2000 at Brookhaven National Laboratory, is in good agreement with the preceding data on a µ + and a µ − . The measurement tests standard model theory, which at the level of the current experimental uncertainty involves quantum electrodynamics, quantum chr… Show more

“…The MECO (Muon on Electron COnversion) experiment at Brookhaven [521] aims to improve the limits on µ−e conversion in nuclei by three orders of magnitude. Further constraints can be obtained from muon g −2 [522,523], and the violation of CKM unitarity [524][525][526].…”
