Journal of Mixed Methods Research (JMMR) we are excited with the growing number of scholars around the world who are conducting highly innovative mixed methods studies and submitting their innovative mixed methods work to the journal. With the growth in interest, we have seen an increase among authors new to the journal who are less familiar with the elements that constitute a compelling mixed methods study. We appreciate and applaud the highly thoughtful and innovative ideas from the current mixed methods researchers community. Herein, our purpose is to provide transparency about elements in articles that we believe help advance the methodology of mixed methods research, and guidance to those new to the mixed methods research community through the use of a checklist. JMMR is a methodological journal and all articles must add value and contribute to the advancement of mixed methods research methodology. Therefore, all articles are methodological papers, as they must emphasize methodological characteristics and highlight the contribution to the latest mixed methods literature. In this editorial, we present a checklist of methodology elements for inclusion for both empirical methodological mixed methods research articles and methodological/theoretical articles that are submitted for consideration of publication in JMMR. We hope that these elements may also be helpful for authors submitting mixed methods methodological manuscripts as chapters for inclusion in handbooks or other methods-focused journals. This checklist is not a rigid standard or requirement for authors to use, but recommended elements for inclusion that we have found through experience to best present a methodological contribution to the mixed methods literature. We anticipate that this checklist will primarily benefit those new to JMMR. In the following, we review the major categories of articles accepted at JMMR, we introduce the rationale for a checklist advancing the methodology of mixed methods research, and provide a

Although mixed methods research proves significant in understanding complex social phenomenon, inadequate research has explored its utility in heat exposure studies. The convergent mixed methods analysis comprising 320 surveys and two focus group interviews were used to evaluate the social impacts of occupational heat stress on Ghanaian mineworkers to enlighten policy choices for the purpose of complementarity. The study contributes to mixed methods study by affirming the practical use of between-method triangulation and complementarity. The merged quantitative and qualitative results also showed adequate corroboration and complementarity between both data, to illustrate the social impacts of work-related heat stress on mining workers as heat-related comorbidity, productive capacity loss, anxiety, slow pace of work, and inadequate social well-being. The mixed methods results would inform policy options on the health and safety of work settings, managing occupational heat stress, and adaptation guidelines in the mining industry.
