As a large part of the bryophyte collection of the late Pierre Tixier , deposited in the Cryptogamic Herbarium of the Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle, Paris (PC), was unidentified, the Author has started to study the rich collection of Bazzania Gray species as well as some other taxa. They were not identified by Tixier, because during his lifetime the genus had not been revised yet. Long ago, the Author himself recorded nine species from northern Vietnam, and a couple of studies were published on Vietnam and neighbouring areas. Today, by identifying Tixier's collection, the number of Bazzania species known in Vietnam has been increased to 28. RÉSUMÉNouveaux signalements pour la flore hépatique et anthocérote du Vietnam 2. Bazzania Gray et quelques autres collections de Pierre Tixier au Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle, France. Une grande partie de la collection de bryophytes de feu Pierre Tixier , déposée à l'Herbier cryptogamique du Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle, Paris (PC), n'étant pas identifiée, l'Auteur a commencé à étudier la riche collection d'espèces de Bazzania Gray avec quelques autres taxons. Elles n'ont pas été identifiées par Tixier, car de son vivant, le genre n'avait pas encore été révisé. Il y a longtemps, l'Auteur a lui-même enregistré neuf espèces du nord du Vietnam, et quelques études ont été publiées sur le Vietnam et les régions avoisinantes. Aujourd'hui, en identifiant la collection Tixier, le nombre d'espèces de Bazzania connues du Vietnam est passé à 28.

“…The phylogenetic tree reveals that individual species of Tomentella can form ectomycorrhiza with different host tree species in different families, and closely related species in the same clade can be restricted to the same host tree family. In addition, the investigated forests were dominated by the coniferous trees P. kesiya mixed with families such as Ericaceae, Fagaceae, Lentibulariaceae, Orchidaceae, and Rosaceae ( Nguyen et al, 2012 ; Pócs et al, 2019 ). We speculate that the plant hosts for these six new species of Tomentella are P. kesiya in Pinaceae or some species in Fagaceae according to the relationship showed in the phylogenetic tree and the dominated tree species in the investigated forests.…”

Up to this point, studies on the taxonomy and phylogeny of the basidiomycetous genus Tomentella stemmed mainly from the temperate to boreal zones of the Northern hemisphere but were scarce in tropical Asia. In this study, six new species—T. bidoupensis, T. brevisterigmata, T. cinereobrunnea, T. longiechinula, T. stipitobasidia, and T. verruculata from central Vietnam in Southeast Asia—are described and illustrated on the basis of morphological characteristics and molecular phylogenetic analyses of the nuclear ribosomal ITS (internal transcribed spacer: ITS1-5.8S-ITS2) and LSU (large subunit: 28S) markers. Maximum likelihood and Bayesian analyses were used to confirm the phylogenetic positions of these new species and all of them can be well recognized by the macroscopical and anatomical characteristics. The new species and closely related species in the phylogenetic tree, and the new species and morphologically similar species are discussed, whereas the host plant for these new species were speculated on the basis of the phylogenetic analyses and the tree species information of the investigated forests.

The first ever liverwort and hornwort checklist is provided for the Maluku Islands (Moluccas/Spice Islands) of Indonesia. We report 355 accepted and 16 doubtful species and reject 22 species previously reported for Maluku Islands. The list is based on the specimens housed in the Herbarium Bogoriense (BO) and reports from over 500 literature references, including monographs, regional studies, and molecular investigations. The Maluku Islands are part of the Wallacea Biodiversity Hotspot with many unique species found only in Wallacea. Publications focusing on liverworts and hornworts of Maluku Islands are few and scattered. Considering regionally widespread species that have been recorded elsewhere, we predict that further fieldwork exploring the diversity of habitats coupled with collections unveiled from regional herbaria, a number of new records remain to be reported.
