“…Third, we know of no sedimentary structures that morphologically resemble the Dengying form. The Ediacara form Arumberia banksi was once interpreted as a cup-shaped organism (34,35) but later as the sole cast of flute-like sedimentary structures (36). Whereas the interpretation of A. banksi is still uncertain (37), the biserially branching system and three-dimensional nature of the Dengying form are different from the fine ridges and grooves of A. banksi and, for that matter, impressions or casts of other known sedimentary structures.…”

“…The sequence is a series of silicified and occasionally cross-bedded sandstones with some interbedded, slope-forming horizons of clay stone and shale. At this locality, a fossil belonging to the Mt Skinner fauna, Hallidaya brueri, has been found in float, and the author discovered a form iw situ which resembles Arumbera banski (see Glaessner & Walter, 1975). These occurrences suggest that the beds at Central Mount Stuart are late Precambrian in age.…”

“…23.8°S, long. 133.6°E) near Alice Springs, Northern Territory, where Precambrian fossils have been reported (Glaessner & Walter, 1975). The sampling began about 5 m above the top of the Pertatataka Formation and continued for 410 m up through the Arumbera and the Box Hole Formations.…”

“…The medusae Hallidaya brueri Wade and Skinnera brooksi Wade occur in the upper Central Mount Stuart Formation of the Georgina Basin (Wade, 1969;Walter, 1980), and H. brueri has also been found in the lower Arumbera Sandstone (Wade, 1969;see Glaessner &Walter, 1975 andKirschvink, 1978a, b, for stratigraphic information on this occurrence). We interpret the data as suggesting that this occurrence is in Arumbera 2.…”
