New neutron deficient lutetium isotopes

Abstract: On [he IRIS facilify the new neutron deficient 157,158'160,161,163Lu isotopes have been produced in spallation induced by 1 GeV protons on a tungsten or tantalum target, and identified by mass separation and the subsequent decay spectroscopy (X-, gamma-, and alpha ray spectroscopy).

“…583, 67 and 11 counts were observed for 87 Ge, 88 Ge, and 89 Ge, respectively. The discovery of 90 Ga was reported in the 2010 article "Identification of 45 new neutron-rich isotopes produced by in-flight fission of a 238 U Beam at 345 MeV/nucleon," by Ohnishi et al [53]. The experiment was performed at the RI Beam Factory at RIKEN, where the new isotopes were created by in-flight fission of a 345 MeV/nucleon 238 U beam on a beryllium target.…”

“…The experiment was performed at the RI Beam Factory at RIKEN, where the new isotopes were created by in-flight fission of a 345 MeV/nucleon 238 U beam on a beryllium target. 90 Ge was separated and identified with the BigRIPS superconducting in-flight separator. The results for the new isotopes discovered in this study were summarized in a table.…”

“…The identified nuclides can be divided into three groups. The first group comprises the nuclides 164't63'162Hf [4,9] and 16~ [10] produced in reactions with 127I through the p2n, p3n, p4n and e3n reaction channels, respectively. The nuclide 69Se [11], the only member of the second group, was produced in reactions with 39'41K, the other target components Finally, nuclides in the third group are 96pd, 94'96Rh, 92'93Ru and 92Tc [11][12][13], produced by reactions with nickel isotopes in the entrance window.…”
