Thus, at present, it consists of 44 species, which is the same number of species Grolle (2002) recorded from the Prince Edward Islands, another subantarctic archipelago in the Kerguelen biogeographical province.…”

“…The present discovery of P. grolleana on Île de la Possession in the Îles Crozet archipelago supports this assumption. The liverwort flora of Îles Crozet had consisted of 42 species, of which 40 had been recorded on Île de la Possession, the main island in the archipelago (Grolle, 2002;Blockeel et al, 2008b). With the present record the hepatic flora of Îles Crozet now contains 43 species.…”

“…For a long time this species was considered endemic to this largest subantarctic archipelago (Váňa & Gremmen, 2006) and only recently it was also found on Île Amsterdam and Île Saint-Paul, two highly isolated islands in the South Indian Ocean (Blockeel et al, 2009c;Váňa et al, 2014). With the record of L. werthii, the liverwort flora of Îles Crozet now totals 44 species (Grolle, 2002;Blockeel et al, 2008b;Ellis et al, 2012c). The present discovery represents a major range extension of the species in the Subantarctic and indicates that it has optimum occurrence in this biome, especially because it appears to be fairly frequent in the eastern part of Île de la Possession.…”
