“…For a long time this species was considered endemic to this largest subantarctic archipelago (Váňa & Gremmen, 2006) and only recently it was also found on Île Amsterdam and Île Saint-Paul, two highly isolated islands in the South Indian Ocean (Blockeel et al, 2009c;Váňa et al, 2014). With the record of L. werthii, the liverwort flora of Îles Crozet now totals 44 species (Grolle, 2002;Blockeel et al, 2008b;Ellis et al, 2012c). The present discovery represents a major range extension of the species in the Subantarctic and indicates that it has optimum occurrence in this biome, especially because it appears to be fairly frequent in the eastern part of Île de la Possession.…”
