New modelling technique for improving crop model performance - Application to the GLAM model

Abstract: A B S T R A C TCrop models simulate growth and development and they are often used for climate change applications. “…The GLAM-Parti crop model was developed based on the General Large Area Model for annual crops (GLAM) which is a relatively simple model designed to operate at regional scale (Challinor et al, 2004). The model was selected for the incorporation of the effect of O 3 on wheat, since it was developed with the SEMAC approach (Simultaneous Equation Modelling for Annual Crops), a novel crop modelling methodology which provides with a consistent representation of abiotic stresses and ensures internal consistency in the simulation of crop growth and development under environmental stress conditions (Droutsas et al, 2019).
