New Instrumentation for Research on Vibrotactile Sensitivity of the Tongue

Abstract: The nee~ fo~ a r~1iable instrument for vibrotactiJe stimulation of the tongue is presented. A signal delivery and s~gn:u monltormg mstrume?tation .system as well as .an appropriate method and apparatus for holding and positlonmg the test structure IS descnbed. The system IS capable of controlling those spatial and psychophysical parameters affecting vibratory study of the tongue.

“…These thresholds were ob tained to monitor changes in lingual tactile sensitivity that might be occurring during the 7 -week period. Equipment and procedures employed for testing are described in detail by Fucci and Kelly (1972). Weekly thresholds were obtained at the frequencies of 125, 250, 300, and 500 Hz.…”
