New Insight of Maximum Transferred Power by Matching Capacitance of a Wireless Power Transfer System

Abstract: Most research on wireless power transfer (WPT) has been focused on how to achieve a high-efficiency power transfer. Our study found that under the impedance matching for achieving maximum WPT efficiency, the power transferred to the load cannot reach the maximum when a WPT system is supplied by an AC voltage source with constant amplitude. However, the load power or the voltage across the load is essential for a low-power electric device such as the implanted medical device where the transfer efficiency is not… Show more

“…A number of research has been devoted to wireless power transfer in recent times. These include use of magnetic resonance coupling [12,13,14,15], electromagnetic inductive coupling [16,17] and capacitive coupling [18]. More importantly, Erol-Kantarci and Mouftah (2014) [19], considering Picocell base Ststions (PBSs) and dedicated Energy Transmitter Towers (ETTs) achieved RF-based WET in LTE-A heterogeneous networks.…”

“…In Figure 15, you can see Z 1 , Z 2 , Z 3 , Z 4 and Z 5 and Z 6 which represent a part of circuital impedance, respectively. And the function was established by Equations (7)- (12). The relationship between the output noise energy and the input noise energy in the system is given by transfer function in Equation (13).…”

“…As for wireless charging for EVs, many researchers pay attention to improving the charging efficiency and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). Some researchers adopt the method of optimizing the structure of the coupled coil pair, the compensation circuit and pulse width modulation (PWM) control strategy to improve the efficiency of wireless charging [8][9][10][11][12][13]. As for EMC, the two key considerations consist of electromagnetic emission and electromagnetic susceptibility (EMS).…”

“…As we know, the efficiency and output power of the WPT system will be maximized if the system satisfies the optimal impedance matching condition [11]. However, the uncertain parameter variations 2 of 18 will change the impedance characteristics of the transmitter and/or the receiver, and hence break the impedance matching status of the overall WPT system.…”
