Abstract

A conference sponsored by the Beckman Center called "Chemical Sciences in the Modern World" provided a unique forum to generate new perspectives on the last 150 years of chemical history. This paper provides readers with highlights of the conference that could enhance chemistry teaching and encourage public understanding.
