New Diketopiperazines from a Marine-Derived Fungus Strain Aspergillus versicolor MF180151

Abstract: Six new diketopiperazines, (±)-7,8-epoxy-brevianamide Q ((±)-1), (±)-8-hydroxy-brevianamide R ((±)-2), and (±)-8-epihydroxy-brevianamide R ((±)-3), together with four known compounds, (±)-brevianamide R ((±)-4), versicolorin B (5) and averufin (6), were isolated from a marine-derived fungus strain Aspergillus versicolor MF180151, which was recovered from a sediment sample collected from the Bohai Sea, China. The chemical structures were established by 1D- and 2D-NMR spectra and HR-ESI-MS. 1 is the first sample… Show more

“…Compounds 82-84 showed strong cytotoxicity with IC50 of 1.7 and 2 µ M against K562 and mouse lymphoma cell line, respectively; similarly, compounds 91-95 also showed strong cytotoxic activity [35][36][37]. Compounds 85-89 showed antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus with the MIC values of 6.25-12.5 µ g/mL [21]. The new compound 90 also showed stronger inhibition activity against α-glucosidase with IC50 value of 138 µ M [37].…”

“…Twenty-four novel alkaloid-bioactive compounds (25-48; Figure 2) have been reported from deep-sea fungi since 2013, out of which compounds 25-40 were isolated from Penicillium spp., and showed cytotoxic activities against BV2 cell (IC50 of 27-45 µ g/mL), brine shrimp (IC50 of 14.1 to 38.5 µ g/mL), SMMC-7721 (IC50 of 54.2 µ M), BEL-7402 ((IC50 of 17.5 µ M), and BEL-7402 (IC50 of 19.8 µ M) [19][20][21]. Compounds 41-46 were identified from Aspergillus spp., in which compounds 41 and 45-46 displayed antibiotic activity (MIC of 30 to 40 µ g/mL) against BCG, Candida albicans, Bacillus subtilis, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Bacillus cereus, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Escherichia…”

“…Six new diketopiperazines (1-3) and another known four compounds were isolated from the fermentation broth culture of the fungus, A. versicolor MF180151 (Bohai Sea, China). These compounds showed some levels of biological activity and only versicolorin B (5) and averufin (6) had inhibitory activity against MRSA [79].…”

“…Six new enantiomeric diketopiperazines, (±)-7,8-epoxybrevianamide Q (70 and 71), (±)-8-hydroxy-brevianamide R (72 and 73), and (±)-8-epihydroxy-brevianamide R (74 and 75) ( Supplementary Fig. S7) were isolated from the marinederived fungus strain A. versicolor MF180151, which was recovered from a sediment sample collected from the Bohai Sea, China (Hu et al 2019). Another analogue, 9ξ-O-2(2,3dimethylbut-3-enyl) brevianamide Q (76), was obtained from the culture of A. versicolor, an endophytic fungus isolated from the marine brown alga Sargassum thunbergii (Miao et al 2012).…”
