New Core Loss Measurement Method for High-Frequency Magnetic Materials

Abstract: Magnetic core loss is an important concern for power converters. As the switching frequency increases and converter size reduced, the core loss will have significant impact to the converter efficiency and temperature. Accurate evaluation is important for magnetic design and converter loss estimation. The classic two-winding method is limited to low frequencies (usually below 1 MHz) because it is sensitive to phase discrepancy. In this paper, a new method is proposed for high-frequency core loss measurement tha… Show more

“…The inductor core should have high saturation flux density in accordance with low permeability to accommodate high current [27,28]. Although high permeability is beneficial in terms of increasing the inductance value, the core can saturate with lower current, which limits the power rating of the inductor.…”

“…The Langevin theory of paramagnetism can be applied to superparamagnetism by replacing the atomic magnetic moment with the magnetic moment of the NP (superspin). 20,21 Figure 5(b) shows a magnetization curve estimated by substituting T = 300 K, k B = 1.38×10 -23 J/K and the superspin moment of the 4.3 nm diameter Fe NP (Table II) into Equation (2). The initial susceptibility of the FNA obtained experimentally, shown in Fig.…”
