New constraints on σ8 from a joint analysis of stacked gravitational lensing and clustering of galaxy clusters

Abstract: The joint analysis of clustering and stacked gravitational lensing of galaxy clusters in large surveys can constrain the formation and evolution of structures and the cosmological parameters. On scales outside a few virial radii, the halo bias, b, is linear and the lensing signal is dominated by the correlated distribution of matter around galaxy clusters. We discuss a method to measure the power spectrum amplitude σ 8 and b based on a minimal modelling. We considered a sample of ∼ 120000 clusters photometrica… Show more

“…In particular, clusters of galaxies can be efficiently used to probe the low redshift Universe. Their large bias and low velocity dispersion at small scales make them optimal tracers for large scale structure analyses (Sereno et al 2015;Veropalumbo et al 2014Veropalumbo et al , 2016. On the other hand, AGN samples can be exploited to push the GR test on larger redshifts.…”

“…Moresco et al 2014), or by combining clustering and lensing measurements (see e.g. Sereno et al 2015). To minimise the uncertainties and systematics possibly present in the above methods, we derive bσ 8 directly from the real-space two-point correlation functions of our mock tracers, through Eq.…”

“…Together with ensemble studies of the large scale structure, lensing surveys can picture the surroundings of single haloes. The environment bias be expresses the matter overdensity in the surroundings of massive halos. Observational campaigns have ascertained the halo bias and its mass dependence 8,9,13 but efforts to detect enhancing mechanisms or secondary biases for massive halos have been inconclusive. Contamination by foreground or background groups hampers the analysis in stacked cluster subsamples 11,12 .…”

“…Large redshift errors, as in photometric redshift surveys, lead to severe distortion effects that reflect in the 2PCF measurement, complicating its analysis and cosmological interpretation (see e.g. Marulli et al 2012;Sereno et al 2015). In order to construct spectroscopic cluster samples, we take advantage of the spectroscopic data from the SDSS.…”
