New catalytic systems for acetylene polymerization

Abstract: The synthesis of polyacetylene (PA) films, having interesting mechanical properties and improved air stability, was performed by means of catalytic systems with Ti(OBu), and aluminoxanes as cocatalysts (i. e. %Al-O-AlR,, %Al-S-AlR,, R2AI-N(n-Bu)-Al%). Scanning electron microscopic characterizations, density and specific surface area measurements are indicative of films more dense than the ones polymerized by means of the classic Shirakawa and Luttinger methods. Draw ratios up to 3,5 were observed.
