New Casemix Classification as an Alternative Method for Budget Allocation in Thai Oral Healthcare Service: A Pilot Study

Abstract: This study aimed to develop a new casemix classification system as an alternative method for the budget allocation of oral healthcare service (OHCS). Initially, the International Statistical of Diseases and Related Health Problem, 10th revision, Thai Modification (ICD-10-TM) related to OHCS was used for developing the software “Grouper”. This model was designed to allow the translation of dental procedures into eight-digit codes. Multiple regression analysis was used to analyze the relationship between the fac… Show more

“…For pilot testing, some preliminary check points are essential to consider. These may include the generation and implementation of the standard classification system for morbidity and mortality data, development of hospital costing system, awareness of the importance of case-mix systems among clinicians, and the government’s willingness to make regulatory changes to adapt this system (Rahimi et al, 2012; Wisaijohn et al, 2010). The case-mix system implementation also requires a structured and computerised system with well-trained and well-oriented personnel; otherwise, the system would fail.…”

“…Szakmai szempontból viszont ez a szakterület rendkívül összetett és számos társszakma alapos ismeretét igényli. A fogá-szattal való szoros kapcsolatát is jól mutatja, hogy szá-mos országban a fej-, nyaksebészet művelőinek az általá-nos orvosi diploma mellett fogorvosival is rendelkezniük kell [9][10][11][12][13].…”
