New‐build gentrification in Central Shanghai: demographic changes and socioeconomic implications

Abstract: In Shanghai, globalised urban images and a well‐functioning accumulation regime are enthusiastically sought after by urban policy, and explicitly promoted as a blueprint for a civilised city life.
