New beamformer for coherent signal reception in the presence of uncorrelated interferences

Abstract: In this paper, a new beamformer is proposed for coherent signal reception with the assumption that the directions-of-arrival (DOA's) of the uncorrelated interferers are available. Here, the composite vector of the coherent sources is first estimated based on the use of a transformation matrix to eliminate the uncorrelated interferers. Then the optimum beamforming is performed based on the estimated composite vector and the eigenstructure of the array correlation matrix. Experimental results show that the propo… Show more

“…Therefore, the other strategy of coherent signal beamforming is to take the multipath signal as the useful signal like the direct signal. In reference [32], an adaptive weight vector was obtained for coherent signal receiving based on the composite steering vector of coherent multipath signals estimated by utilizing the transformation matrix which was constructed by the DOA of uncorrelated interference. Two beamforming algorithms were present in [33] with forcing the array responses to the pre-estimated angle clusters of the coherent multipath signal no less than unity while minimising the output power.…”
