New Aspects of the Pathogenesis of Canine Distemper Leukoencephalitis

Abstract: Canine distemper virus (CDV) is a member of the genus morbillivirus, which is known to cause a variety of disorders in dogs including demyelinating leukoencephalitis (CDV-DL). In recent years, substantial progress in understanding the pathogenetic mechanisms of CDV-DL has been made. In vivo and in vitro investigations provided new insights into its pathogenesis with special emphasis on axon-myelin-glia interaction, potential endogenous mechanisms of regeneration, and astroglial plasticity. CDV-DL is characteri… Show more

“…5, 2015 PAS-POSITIVE HIPPOCAMPAL GRANULES IN SJL/J MICEthe presented findings warrant further investigations on this topic. In fact, p75 NTR is a pivotal molecule in many neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease, and plays a crucial role in many demyelinating diseases (Knowles et al 2013;Lempp et al 2014 ).…”

“…O CDV acomete mamíferos das famílias Canidae, Mustelidae, Hyaenidae, Procyonidae, Ailuridae, Viverridae, Felidae, Ursidae, Phocidae, Tayassuidae e Cercopithecidae (Cho e Park, 2005;Cottrell et al, 2013;Lempp et al, 2014).

“…It affects members of the Canidae, Felidae, Mustelidae, Viverridae, Procyonidae, and Cercopithecidae (Qui et al, 2011;Cottrell et al, 2013;Lempp et al, 2014). Infection with CDV results in acute, subacute, or chronic clinical presentation, which primarily affects the respiratory, gastrointestinal, and nervous systems (Mangia and Paes, 2008;Martella et al, 2008;Sonne et al, 2009;Carvalho et al, 2012;Lempp et al, 2014).…”
