QS can be categorized into three major groups: (i) LuxI/R-type QS in gram-negative bacteria, (ii) oligopeptide two-component QS in gram-positive bacteria, and (iii) the interspecies communication system known as LuxS-mediated AI-2 QS found in various microbial communities [ 13 ].
