New Amphiphilic Glycopolymers Based on a Polycaprolactone‐maleic anhydride Copolymer Backbone: Characterization by 15N NMR and Application to Colloidal Stabilization of Nanoparticles

Abstract: 8‐Amino‐3,6‐dioxaoctyl α‐D‐mannopyranoside and 8‐amino‐3,6‐dioxaoctyl β‐D‐galactopyranoside were prepared for coupling with a copolymer made from PCL macromonomers and MA. The new glycosyl compounds as well as PCL macromonomers were synthesized by appropriate techniques and fully characterized. The grafting of the latter with the functionalized copolymer was ascertained by 15N NMR experiments. The glycopolymers thus obtained were used in conjunction with Pluronic® F‐68 for the stabilization of PCL nanoparticle… Show more

“…Traditional reactions are also still used effectively. Thus, Otman et al published in 200827 the modification of graft copolymers based on polycaprolactone macromonomers and maleic acid anhydride (MSA) copolymers by reaction with amino‐modified sugar molecules. Fluorene‐based conjugated polymers having bromo‐oligoethylene glycol units had been modified effectively with sugar moieties by ether formation,25 which led to structures highly efficient in bio‐recognition.…”

“…Glyco‐unit‐containing polymeric structures have been incorporated into cell membranes to mimic and assess biological processes,23 have been shown to support cell adhesion and proliferation,24 and are used for selective recognition materials 25, 26. They are also discussed as biocompatible nanoparticle stabilizers27, 28 or even as mimics of antifreeze glycoproteins,29 just to give a few random examples.…”

“…Polymer surfactants based in dextran in the emulsion polymerization process were also reported, with potassium persulfate as the initiator . Their applications in the drug delivery field are well documented . Recently, the original synthesis of linear blocks copolymers based on pullulan with various lengths was reported and their water‐soluble properties were fully investigated .…”

“…[ 6,7 ] Their applications in the drug delivery fi eld are well documented. [8][9][10][11] Recently, the original synthesis of linear blocks copoly mers based on pullulan with various lengths was reported and their water-soluble properties were fully investigated. [ 12,13 ] This copolymer is composed by a pullulan block (hydrophilic block) and a Jeffamine M2005, which is a ω-amino-PPO-b -PEO diblock copolymer.…”
