New 2-Methoxy Acetylenic Acids and Pyrazole Alkaloids from the Marine Sponge Cinachyrella sp.

Abstract: Three new 2-methoxy acetylenic acids (1–3) and a known derivative (4), in addition to three new natural pyrazole alkaloids (5–7) were isolated from an Indonesian marine sponge of the genus Cinachyrella. Compounds 5 and 6 have previously been reported as synthetic compounds. The structures of the new compounds were established on the basis of one- and two-dimensional NMR spectroscopy as well as by mass spectrometric data. The absolute configuration of the new acetylenic acid derivatives (1–3) was established by… Show more

“…It is important to understand the distinction between species, as there is a growing interest in natural products and other biobased studies from tetillids (e.g. Cleary et al 2013, Mokhlesi et al 2017, Zhang et al 2017). We expect that the current study can provide a solid basis for subsequent species descriptions of Indo-Pacific species of the genera Cinachyrella and Paratetilla .…”

“…In 2017, 231 new or new to the marine environment compounds were reported from sponges, a slight increase over the number in 2016 (224) but still far below the rolling average over the past decade (277 403,404 as were methylated lactones 988-990. 405,406 The synthesis of 990 was also achieved.…”
