Abstract: Neutrophils release neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) as a defense strategy in response to broad-spectrum infections and sterile triggers. NETs consist of a DNA scaffold decorated with antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) and enzymatically active proteases, including peptidyl arginine deiminase type 4 (PAD4). Susceptibility to infections and inflammatory dysregulation are hallmarks of alcohol-related liver disease (ALD).
