“…Only few groups have investigated the role of NLR in predicting colorectal tumour staging. Previous studies have found elevated NLR to be significantly associated with advanced TNM stages and similar to our findings, Özgehan et al [38] reported significant differences in NLR between the N1/N2 and N0 stage (mean: 6.597 vs. 4.501, respectively, p < 0.001), whilst Malietzis et al [39] reported an increased number of patients with N1/N2 stage in a higher NLR group [79 (28.9%) vs. 45 (19.7%), p = 0.039]. Similarly, Ishizuka et al [40] reported a higher frequency of nodal involvement in patients with elevated NLR and platelet counts.…”

“…In our review of the literature, we did not find any studies in which PLR predicted lymph node involvement in colon cancer. However, Özgehan et al 20 examined the effect of NLR on tumor staging in colon cancer and reported that NLR was significantly high in patients with lymph node positivity. This is important in that it demonstrates the importance of PLR, which is another inflammatory marker like NLR.…”
