Neutrophil:Lymphocyte Ratio as a Predictive Factor for Success of Nephron-Sparing Procedures in Patients with Emphysematous Pyelonephritis

Abstract: 1829 patients underwent radical prostatectomy with pelvic lymph node dissection (RP+PLND) (241 high-risk, 943 intermediate-risk, 645 low-risk). Positive margin rates were 17.8%, 14.8%, and 11.9% in the high, intermediate-and lowrisk groups. Five-year overall survival was 92.5% in lymph node-positive patients and 94.9% in lymph node-negative patients (p = 0.8). Age, prebiopsy prostatespecific antigen, and clinical stage were associated with positive surgical margins in patients with lymph node metastasis (LNM).… Show more

“…Upon full‐text review, 34 articles were excluded due to lack of proper information, study design, and duplication. In total, 45 articles met the inclusion criteria, reporting the mortality rate and risk factors of mortality among EP patients and were included in the final cohort analysis, comprising 1303 patients and 177 mortalities [1–3, 5, 7–11, 14, 23–57]. The evidence acquisition flow chart is shown in Fig.…”

“…Additionally, in individuals with EPN, diabetic ketoacidosis is a significant predictor of death and people with thrombocytopenia can also experience poor outcomes [11,13]. According to Punatar et al, patients having a neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio greater than five at admission are at an increased risk of adverse outcomes by 1.8% [14]. The death rate is highest and extensive therapy is required when two or more factors are present [15].…”
