Neutron Spectroscopic Factors from Isobaric Analog States

Abstract: OVERLAPPING RESONANCES 975As expected, when one of the channels is switched off, Eq. (24) reduces to Eq. (8). By integrating out e and one of the total widths in Eq. (24) we find that the distribution of the single total width r=r\/(rx) is given by p(r)=(M37r~1)[exp( / zi)][r(2-r)-M2]-1/2 X{MIM3-T#I(MI)+#O(MI)] -2[r(2~r)-/x 2 Ko(Mi)} Xexp{-2 M 3Cr(2~r)i u 2 ]}, (25) where Mi= (This should be compared with the total dimensionless width y of the R matrix which is given byTo compare the distribution of the width … Show more

“…First of all, we searched for the resonance parameters, resonance energies E R , Γ p , and the total widths Γ total , assuming four IARs which can be expected from the known bound states in 35 Si. The minimum χ 2 was searched by changing the parameters in the R-matrix curves which were calculated using the optical potential phase shift [19] with the global optical model parameter [22]. The resultant curve which was shown by the dashed line (15) 2194(15) 20.9(120) 32.0(220) 0.12 (7) in Fig.…”

“…This is in contrast to the study of the neutron singleparticle structure of neutron-rich nuclei, for which the TTIK method has been only applied to the unbound nucleus 9 He using the p( 8 He, p) reaction. In that work 8 He beams of several MeV in the c.m.…”

“…When the analog state is above the proton separation energy, the state will be observed in the proton elastic scattering excitation function of a target nucleus A Z as a resonance, called the isobaric analog resonance (IAR). The resonance energy, width, and J π can be obtained from the excitation function by R-matrix analysis [8,9].For unstable nuclei, the proton resonance scattering with thick target inverse kinematics (TTIK) is useful [10] for obtaining the excitation function of the proton elastic scattering. At 0 degrees in the lab.…”

“…When the analog state is above the proton separation energy S p , the state is observed in the excitation function of elastic scattering on a target nucleus 34 Si as a resonance, called IAR. The resonance energy E R , spectroscopic factor S, and angular momentum l can be deduced by R-matrix analysis [14,15] on the excitation function of differential cross sections at a given scattering angle.…”
