“…It was recognized soon that charge exchange reactions would be an ideal tool for in-medium resonance studies. As early as 1976 high energy (p, n) reactions were used at the Los Alamos Meson Physics Facility (LAMPF) to investigate resonance excitation in heavy target [43,44]. About the same time also (n, p) reactions were measured at Los Alamos [45,46].…”

“…We make this assumption on the basis that in the charge exchange process, the projectile particle imparts very little energy to the target nucleus and comes out of the collision exchanging charge only. The process is kinematically the same obtained so hr show that the differential cross section for the charge exchange process at 0 = 0 ø decreases with the increasing energy of the incident nucleon (e.g., •70mbarn sr -• at 56 MeV [Mc-Naughton et al, 1975] and •30mbarn sr -• at 647MeV[Cassapakis et at., 1976]). We determine the energy dependence of the cross section for charge exchange from the menured differential cross section at 0 = 0 ø by integrating the angular distribution at each energy. For projectile particles with kinetic energy below 1 GeV, the scattering cross section for charge exchange decreases as the energy increases, and the energy dependence of •**•/•,• is given approximately by the fol-nucleon.…”
