Neutron helicity amplitudes

Abstract: The helicity amplitudes for the photoproduction of nucleon resonances excited from neutrons are determined in the Bonn-Gatchina coupled-channel partial wave analysis. Upper limits for the decay fraction of the pentaquark candidate N (1685) → K 0 Λ are given. The electric and magnetic couplings at the pole positions are also tabulated, and these are used to suggest candidates for possible multiplets with quark-spin 1/2 and 3/2 content.

“…In both channels the S 11 resonance dominates near threshold and the second largest peak arises from P 11 , followed by large contributions from F -wave resonances. This is different in the most recent BnGa analysis [32], where the P 13 (1900) plays a dominant role and F -waves are practically negligible. Such ambiguities in the PWA can be expected when only two observables are measured as in the η proton channel.…”

“…The photocouplings of baryon resonances are mostly given as helicity amplitudes A 1/2 , A 3/2 , and for excitations off protons, we gave these quantities only [103]. In a fit to data on photoproduction off neutrons, we evaluated also the electric and magnetic multipole amplitudes [104]. In many cases, + .…”

“…The fit was further constrained by the data photoproduction off protons. Recently, CLAS reported new and very precise data on γn → K 0 Λ; the new data allowed for a new determination of the helicity amplitudes for photoproduction of neutrons [137].…”
