Neutrinos and gravitational waves from magnetized neutrino-dominated accretion discs with magnetic coupling

Abstract: Gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) might be powered by a black hole (BH) hyperaccretion systems via the Blandford-Znajek (BZ) mechanism or neutrino annihilation from neutrino-dominated accretion flows (NDAFs). Magnetic coupling (MC) between the inner disc and BH can transfer angular momentum and energy from the fast-rotating BH to the disc. The neutrino luminosity and neutrino annihilation luminosity are both efficiently enhanced by the MC process. In this paper, we study the structure, luminosity, MeV neutrinos, and gra… Show more

“…(1978) first proposed GW radiation resulting from anisotropic neutrinos, and the methods have been applied to CCSNe (e.g., Burrows & Hayes 1996;Kotake et al 2006Kotake et al , 2007. GWs arising from anisotropic neutrino emission in NDAFs have been investigated (e.g., Suwa & Murase 2009;Kotake et al 2012;Liu et al 2017b;Song et al 2020;. Liu et al (2017b) examined the BH spin and accretion rate impacts on the strains of GWs in NDAFs; compared their strains, frequencies, and detection possi- bility to those from magnetars; and presented no GW emission from the BZ mechanism (Blandford & Znajek 1977).…”

“…MeV neutrinos from core-collapse SNe (CCSNe, e.g., Friedland 2010;Warren et al 2020) and their central NDAFs (e.g., Liu et al 2016;Wei et al 2019;Song et al 2020) have been investigated. Although the neutrino luminosity of NDAFs is 1 − 3 orders of magnitude lower than that of CCSNe, a certain number of neutrinos could still be detected in the Local Group by prospective detectors (e.g., Liu et al 2016).…”

“…Neutrino annihilation and BZ mechanism might coexist in NDAF with magnetic coupling (MC), and compete with each other. Variations in the proportions of the BZ and MC components lead to changes in the dominance of the BZ power and the neutrino annihilation luminosity (e.g., Lei et al 2009;Song et al 2020).…”

“…As one of candidates of GRB central engines, the neutrino-dominated accretion flow (NDAF) has been used to explain many characteristics of GRBs in past two decades, such as GRB jet luminosities powered by the annihilations of neutrinos escaping from the discs (e.g. Popham, Woosley, & Fryer 1999;Fryer et al 1999 Song, Liu, & Wei 2020), variabilities in GRB prompt emissions driven by the instabilities of the discs (e.g. Reynoso, Romero, & Sampayo 2006;Janiuk et al 2007;Kawanaka & Mineshige 2007;Lei et al 2009Lei et al , 2017Liu et al 2010;Carballido & Lee 2011;Kawanaka & Kohri 2012;Kawanaka, Piran, & Krolik 2013;Hou et al 2014;Kimura, Mineshige, & Kawanaka 2015;Lin et al 2016;Kawanaka & Masada 2019;Shahamat, Abbassi, & Liu 2021), extended emissions following short-duration GRBs induced by the redistribution of the angular momenta of the discs (e.g.…”
