Neutrino mass induced radiatively by supersymmetric leptoquarks

Abstract: We show how nonzero Majorana neutrino masses can be radiatively generated by extending the MSSM with leptoquark chiral multiplets without violating R-parity. It is found that, with these particles, the R-parity conservation does not imply lepton number conservation. Neutrino masses generated at a one-loop level are closely related to the down quark mass matrix. The ratio of neutrino mass-squared splittings $\Delta m^2_{\nu_2-\nu_1}/\Delta m^2_{\nu_3-\nu_2}$ obtained is naturally close to $\Delta m^2_{s-d}/\Del… Show more

“…This is in agreement with the findings we presented in section 5.3. Note that the neutrino Majorana masses could also receive partial contribution through the one-loop processes, where the particles in the loop are down-quarks and a mixture of S 3 andR 2 [52,94,95].…”

“…They can thus yield novel physical processes such as proton decay or help explain experimentally observed phenomena that cannot be successfully addressed within the Standard Model (SM) of elementary particle physics. For example, neutrino masses of Majorana nature can be generated through the one-loop level processes if one introduces at least two particular scalar LQ multiplets [1,2] to the SM particle content. It is our intention to investigate the viability of this particular mechanism within a context of grand unification.…”

“…For exhaustive lists of references on the LQ phenomenology one can consult reviews on the subject [7][8][9][10] or turn to the numerous studies of specific aspects of the LQ related physics [11][12][13][14][15][16][17]. The one-loop contributions towards neutrino masses that we study have been considered extensively in the literature [1,2,[18][19][20][21][22]. Our intention, in contrast to the existing studies, is to analyse possibilities to have a more fundamental origin of this mechanism and to provide several realistic examples.…”

“…They can thus yield novel physical processes that are not present in the Standard Model (SM) of elementary particle physics 1 . One such process is a generation of neutrino masses of Majorana nature at the one-loop level that requires addition of at least two particular scalar LQ multiplets [2,3] to the SM particle content. This type of the one-loop contributions towards neutrino mass has been extensively studied in the literature [2,3,4,5,6,7,8].…”

This type of the one-loop contributions towards neutrino mass has been extensively studied in the literature [2,3,4,5,6,7,8]. The aim of this work is to provide a viable SU(5) origin [9] of the oneloop mechanism of the neutrino mass generation when the particles in the loop are the down-type quarks and two scalar LQs.…”
