Neutrino mass from a d=7 effective operator in a SUSY-GUT framework

Abstract: Models, where neutrino mass originates from physics at the TeV scale and which are potentially testable at the LHC, need additional suppression mechanisms to describe the smallness of neutrino masses. We consider models in which neutrino mass is generated from the d = 7 operator LLH u H u H d H u in the context of SUSY-GUTs containing an SU(5) subgroup, where the d = 5 Weinberg operator can be forbidden by a discrete symmetry. That is, we identify the embeddings in GUT multiplets and their consequences for phe… Show more

“…First, with the use of non-Abelian discrete symmetries it is possible to construct viable models, genuine in the sense that they can give the leading contribution to the neutrino mass matrix. We will not discuss in detail such models, since the use of discrete symmetries for d = 7 neutrino masses have been discussed in this context already in a number of references, see for example [14,[17][18][19][20].…”

“…After giving all the diagrams that can be construct with quadruplets as the highest representation (figures [18][19][20], the last case depicted in figure 9 shows the only genuine JHEP07(2017)079 diagram that can be constructed with no representation bigger than triplet. Despite its similarity to the structure given in figure 8 (left), the 4-leg vertex prevents lower order neutrino masses already with triplets.…”
