Neutralization of the Staphylococcus aureus Panton-Valentine leukocidin by African and Caucasian sera

Abstract: Background The prevalence of Staphylococcus aureus isolates carrying the Panton-Valentine leukocidin (PVL) gene is higher in Africa (≈50%) compared to Europe (< 5%).
