Neutralization by "antineoplastin" of insulin-activated nitric oxide synthase antibody and its effects in cancers

Abstract: It was found that the resumption of NO synthesis through the neutralization of antibody resulted in favorable modifications of various cancer-associated pathophysiologic consequences.

“…These results might suggest an impairment of NOS activity in both breast cancer and other cancers. (15) However, it could be argued that the antimetastatic effect of aspirin in breast cancer patients was not due to the effect of aspirin itself. The prevention of metastasis could be the consequence of the previous therapeutic regimen, and the patients might simply be enjoying a long period of ''disease-free condition''.…”

“…We have reported earlier (15) that patients who had received chemotherapy, radiation, and ⁄ or surgery for localized breast cancer lesions could be categorized into two groups, responders and non-responders. The survival rate of metastatic breast cancer patients in the responders and non-responders after they received above mentioned therapies were 65% and 22%, respectively.…”

“…98 Furthermore, the same ethanolic extract of A. hygrometricus was found as a powerful activator of NOS enzyme 23 and it had been formerly reported that nitric oxide synthase (NOS) activation had an inhibitory effect on various types of cancers including Ehrlich's ascites carcinoma. 99,100 This might be an added value on the inhibition of Ehrlich's ascites carcinoma. Heteroglucan, AE2 obtained from A. hygrometricus, exhibited significant antitumor activity.…”

“…The availability of NO at cellular level is critically important in the final outcome of the effect of NO on cancer cells. For example while excess NO can act as a procarcinogenic compound (Iwarkiri et al 2002), the physiological amounts of the same compound can act as a systemic anticancer agent (Kilbourn and Belloni 1990;Sinha et al 2002). We have recently reported that the binding of insulin to its highaffinity receptors on erythrocyte membrane in human breast cancer was impaired which resulted in the impaired synthesis of NO (Chakraborty et al 2004).…”
