Neutral zone recording in computer‐guided implant prosthesis: A new digital neuromuscular approach

Abstract: BackgroundNeutral zone (NZ) is a specific area in the oral cavity where muscular opposite forces are null. NZ represents the ideal zone for prosthesis placement. In this study, we compared digital implant planning using conventional technique and using NZ registration through piezography.MethodsSixty‐tree implants were digitally planned. Angular deviation differences between traditional planned and NZ‐planned implants were calculated. In addition, interferences with soft tissues (i.e., tongue and cheeks) were … Show more

“…However, the data of a previous study showed how immediate loading can affect the survival rate of implants but not the final prothesis success, showing how the correct distribution of the occlusal forces in the period after implant insertion can positively influence the final outcome [16].…”

“…If the surgical intervention on jawbones is considered as a minor type on surgery and with a very low risk, the diagnosis and planning stages are fundamental for rehabilitation, which can be comfortable and satisfying for the patients [16].…”

“…Managing the forces in oral physiology by careful consideration of teeth volume, angulation, volume, neutral zone, and residual ridge morphology is vital for long-term success of denture prosthesis. [7,8] Eklund [9] and Caplan D [10] reported a higher risk of edentulism among the community with lower levels of education and income status. The choice of dental prosthesis is influenced by multiple factors such as aesthetic expectations, cost, and patient acceptability.…”
