Neurosciences in Brazil: a bibliometric study of main characteristics, collaboration and citations

Abstract: Brazilian scientific output in the field of Neurosciences is analyzed based on articles indexed in Web of Science from 2006 to 2013 according to bibliometric indicators of production, collaboration, impact and keywords analysis. The growth rate of Brazilian scientific output is greater than global scientific production in the area, with a higher percentage of articles in English than other research areas in Brazil and Brazilian neuroscientists preferring to publish their work in foreign journals. However, Port… Show more

“…The scientific network has been studied to analyze the dynamics of joint ventures in certain fields of knowledge and explore the relationship among agents. The most popular agents or institutions are thus indicated through indexes of centrality (Costa et al, 2013;Hoppen & Vanz, 2016). Figure 6 shows the network of institutional collaboration of publication on the passion fruit peel flour.…”

“…Using bibliometric analysis, we can further understand the status of global rice research 7 . In recent years, bibliometrics has been broadly used as a quantitative analysis method in many scientific research fields such as graphene 8 , nanotechnology 9,10 , tuberculosis 11 and neurosciences 12 . With regard to agricultural research, studies have been publications in the realm of agriculture and even crop science adopting bibliometric methods 13,14 .…”

“…Scientometrics and patentometrics can provide a macroscopic overview of the given field for the researchers, and have been used in many scientific fields, e.g. oncology [15] , neurosciences [19] and nanotechnology [20] , etc. Through the scientometrics and patentometrics of the field of antineoplastics targeting PD-1/PD-L1, we can generally understand the main research direction and its development trend.…”
