“…Design copy (Aronson & Hagberg, 1998) and design memory impairments found in PAE children (Mattson & Roebuck, 2002) have been correlated with binge patterns of consumption (Streissguth, Bookstein, Sampson, & Barr, 1989). Specifically, poor performance of heavily alcohol-exposed children on the BeeryBuktenica Developmental Test of Visual-Motor Integration (VMI; Beery, Buktenica, & Beery, 2006) has been demonstrated by numerous researchers (Conry, 1990;Janzen, Nanson, & Block, 1995;Korkman, Autti-Ramo, Koivulehto, & Granstrom, 1998;Mattson, Riley, Gramling, Delis, & Jones, 1998;Uecker & Nadel, 1996). The absence of deficits in visuomotor ability, as measured by the Beery VMI, may be related to comparison of two alcohol-exposed groups: one group who received an alcohol-related neurodevelopmental disorder diagnosis and a group that did not (Greenbaum, Nulman, Rovet, & Koren, 2002).…”

“…There are only a few studies that included children with PAE on the original NEPSY, which consisted of different subtests and domains and was only normed for children aged 5-12 years. Korkman, Autti-Ramo, Koivulehto, and Granstrom (1998) found that children with PAE were impaired relative to controls on the original NEPSY on subtests indexing inhibition Downloaded by [Flinders University of South Australia] at 13:16 04 February 2015 and attention, language, visual-motor abilities, and some aspect of memory (note that many of the subtests on the NEPSY-II differ from those on the original version). In a separate study using the NEPSY, Korkman, Kettunen, and Autti-Ramo (2003) found that alcohol-exposed children had deficits on measures of attention, language, motor abilities, visuospatial functions, memory, and learning.…”
