“…For Latinos in general, and Mexican Americans in particular, informal caregiving represents an important source of resilience that allows older adults to continue to live in the community even in the event of serious cognitive and functional decline (Angel et al, 2022). Research on informal caregivers (hereafter caregivers) of older Mexican Americans shows that the high prevalence of cognitive impairment and behavioral symptoms of cognitive decline of care recipients represent significant stressors for caregivers (Cantu & Aranda, 2022, Flores et al, 2021, Rote et al, 2015).
