Ancak TAK yapan hastalarda semptomatik olmadığı sürece asemptomatik bakterirürinin antibiyotik kullanımı gerektirmediği, uzun vadeli antibiyotik kullanımının ise bakteriyel direnç gelişi-mini arttırdığı belirtilmiştir [5][6][7] . “…8 However, the EAU Guidelines 9 state that sterile IC significantly reduces the risk of UTI and/or bacteriuria compared with clean IC. [10][11][12] Although Wyndaele is quoted as stating, "Based on the current data, it is not possible to state that one catheter method is better than another and further research on the topic is strongly recommended." 10 Guttmann is clearly in favour of sterile IC based on in-patient research with the endpoint of urine sterility on discharge from hospital.…”

“…Bladder anatomy allows the drug solution to be directly instilled via a catheter (Barthelmes et al 2011, Lee et al 2011). However, this treatment often causes local irritation and edema due to its effects on unmyelinated sensory afferent fibers, which are believed to signal pain and initiate inflammatory responses (Meel and Wyndaele 2012, Wyndaele et al 2010, Cipullo et al 2014. Alternative formulations have been proposed in order to minimize these side effects.…”
