“…Einzig Brand und Sackmann [4] haben Zinn(IV)-chlorid 1963 kristallographisch untersucht und anhand von Debye-Scherrer-Aufnahmen an regellos angeordneten Einkristallen festgestellt [2], daû es bei ±39°C in einer monoklinen Elementarzelle mit a = 9.85, b = 6,75, c = 9.98 A Ê , b = 102°15' kristallisiert und dabei wahrscheinlich a È hnlich dem Zinn(IV)-bromid [5] aufgebaut ist. Die Ursache hierfu È r ist darin zu sehen, daû auf der Basis der hexagonal-dichten Kugelpackung, bei der pro packendem Teilchen X entsprechend der Formel T 2 OX zwei Tetraederpla È tze T und eine Oktaederlu È kke O entfallen, das genannte Besetzungsverha È ltnis ( 1 / 8 ) der Tetraederpla È tze beim SnCl 4 so realisiert wird, daû die hexagonale Basiszelle (Mg-Strukturtyp) in der Basis in Richtung der a-Achse vervierfacht, in Richtung der b-Achse verachtfacht und zudem noch in der Ho È he verdoppelt werden muû, sodaû eine 4´8´2 = 64-fache Ûberstrukturzelle resultiert, was sehr kompliziert erscheint.…”
