This paper gives the results of new measurements of the effect of te mperature on the electromotiv e force of standard cells of the saturated cadmi um s ulfate type. Meas urements were made over th e te mpe rature range of 15 to 40°C. Twe lve cells of NBS manufacture and twenty-four cells supplied by two differe nt co mmercial manufacturers were used in the studies. Final res ults were analyzed by the method of least squ ares usin g co mputer programs. The relation betwee n e mf and te mperature for NBS, company 1, and company 2 cells was found to be given, respectively , by:Et =E2O 'C-[40.44 (t-20) Values for the entropy and heat-capacity chan ges for the cell reaction in "acid" standard cells are also given.Key words: EMF-temperature coeffici ents of stand ard_cells; standard cells; entropy chan ges in standard cells; heat-capacity changes in standard cells; effect of acid on standard cells.
