Network interconnection and protocol conversion-a protocol complementation approach

Abstract: This paper demonstrates a technique of protocol converslon as a method of constructing gateways in different layers f o r heterogeneous interconnection of networks. The formal approach is based on protocol complementation which is related t o the layering of communication protocols. W e have shown how protocol complementation is implemented in t h e gateways t o achieve uniform protocol of the virtual layer.
