Network Flow Formulation for Cooperative Peer-to-Peer Refueling Strategies

Abstract: The problem of a general peer-to-peer refueling strategy for satellites in a circular constellation is addressed. The proposed cooperative egalitarian peer-to-peer strategy allows the satellites participating in a refueling transaction to engage in a cooperative rendezvous, that is, both satellites engaging in a fuel exchange may be active. Furthermore, the active satellites are allowed to interchange their orbital positions during their respective return trips. A mathematical framework to solve this general r… Show more

“…With regard to the type of rendezvousing between the SS and the target, it should be noted that the cooperative rendezvous maneuvers need less fuel in comparison with the non-cooperative ones, 23,24,31,33 but the designation of the cooperative rendezvous maneuvers is more difficult rather than the non-cooperative maneuvers. Furthermore, in the cooperative maneuvers the target satellite should leave the work place to rendezvous with the SS at the servicing point, and after receiving the services, it comes back to the work place in order to perform its duties.…”

“…Far distance cooperative rendezvous maneuver was studied by Feng et al 28,29 Also, the cooperative rendezvous maneuver in the refuelling missions has been investigated in literature. [30][31][32][33] Also, some works [34][35][36] investigated the control of the cooperative rendezvous problems.…”

“…For such systems, the problem of servicing is being addressed recently (Shen and Tsiotras, 2003;Dutta and Tsiotras, 2010). Serving multiple spacecraft is based on the multi-spacecraft rendezvous.…”

“…Tsiotras, Dutta, and Yu focused on OOR missions using peer-to-peer (P2P) strategy, and formulated the problem by network flow model or bipartite graph. 11–17 Yu et al. 4 also paid attention to OOR missions using mixed strategy, and economic efficiencies of different OOR strategies are compared and discussed.…”
