“…A better predictor of bamboo specialists' ability to persist in bamboo die-offs was provided by Lebbin (2013), who demonstrated that the communities of bamboo specialists found in different bamboo patches form nested subsets of one another in a highly significant fashion. In our study, the four specialist species that persisted in the bamboo die-offs, being recorded multiple times, were among the least nested species in Lebbin's analysis (Mann-Whitney U = 10, n 1 = 4, n 2 = 10, P = 0.038).…”

“…The responses of bamboo specialists to the die-off ranged from complete disappearance to actual increases in the abundance of the Flammulated Pygmy-Tyrant and Duskytailed Flatbill, two species Kratter (1997) considered to be obligate bamboo specialists. When the persisting specialists are placed in the context of Lebbin's (2013) nestedness matrix, it is clear that those species with the strictest requirements for large and/or high-quality bamboo patches do not occur in bamboo die-offs, whereas species that are able to use small or marginal bamboo patches tend to use the dieoffs also.…”

“…The area that corresponds to the HFR, administered by the Federal University of Acre, is outlined by the red polygon. using Somenzari et al (2018), while bamboo forest specialists and species associated with patches of Guadua bamboo were identified based on Kratter (1997), Guilherme & Santos (2009), Lebbin (2013) and Guilherme (2012Guilherme ( , 2016. Species endemic to the Inambari centre of endemism (sensu Silva et al 2005Silva et al , 2019 were identified using Haffer (1978), Cracraft (1985) and Guilherme (2012Guilherme ( , 2016.…”
