Nephrotic Syndrome Secondary to Lithium Therapy

Abstract: Overt nephrotic syndrome developed in a young housewife treated with lithium carbonate for manic-depressive psychosis. Complete spontaneous remission was observed 1 month after discontinuing the drug but the nephrotic state reappeared 8 years later when lithium therapy was re-instituted. A renal biopsy showed minimal glomerular lesions without interstitial disease.
