Nephrotic Syndrome in Children: Role of the Pediatrician, and the Nephrologist

Abstract

RESUMENEl síndrome nefrótico (SN) en niños es una patología muy frecuente en nuestro medio. El abordaje inicial, habitualmente, es realizado por el pediatra o médico general, hasta su evaluación por el nefrólogo pediatra y/o nefrólogo de adultos con capacitación en pediatría; por lo que en esta revisión se esbozan algunas pautas para estandarizar su estudio inicial, control de edemas y tratamiento hasta su evaluación por la especialidad, a través de un adecuado sistema de referencia y contrarreferencia, garantizando la adherencia del niño y su familia, es especial en aquellos que viven en lugares lejanos con acceso reducido a los sistemas de salud de forma continua.Palabras clave: Síndrome nefrótico; Niño; Rol del pediatra; Rol del nefrólogo. The initial approach, usually, is performed by the pediatrician or general practitioner, until it is evaluated by the pediatric nephrologist and / or nephrologist of adults with training in pediatrics; so in this review some guidelines are outlined to standardize their initial study, edema control and treatment until their evaluation by the specialty, through an adequate reference and counter-referral system, guaranteeing the adherence of the child and his family, is special in those who live in remote places with reduced access to health systems on an ongoing basis.
