Nephrotic Syndrome Associated with Use of the Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs

Abstract: Although acute interstitial nephritis associated with the use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs has long been recognized, only recently has its association with ‘minimal change’ nephrotic syndrome been reported. We report here a case of this pattern of nephrotic syndrome without concurrent interstitial nephritis associated with the use of tolmetin. The clinical picture, laboratory data, course, and relevant histopathologic findings of previous cases in the literature of nephrotic syndrome related to the … Show more

Additionally, the finding of MCG due to secondary causes, such as drugs [3][4][5] and lymphoproliferative dis orders [6], among the adult population exceeds that seen in children.…”

“…This report included 24 patients with MCD, among whom 15 patients received fenoprofen. Patients presented with full-blown NS and had excellent outcomes after NSAID discontinuation, often in the absence of corticosteroids (23). NSAIDs subsequently have been recognized as a drug-induced etiology of MCD.…”
