Nephrectomy in unilateral chronic pyelonephritis

Abstract: In order to study the effectiveness of unilateral nephrectomy as a treatment for chronic unilateral pyelonephritis, 15 consecutive patients who had undergone this operation were followed up. The patients had been operated on 8.9 years (mean) earlier. All of the 15 patients had had recurrent urinary tract infections prior to the operation, 11 of them had had pyelonephritis for between 1 and 19 (mean 6.7) years.
