Abstract: Introduction and Objective. Perinatal asphyxia (PA) is a condition of impaired blood gas exchange which, if persistent, leads to progressive hypoxemia and hypercapnia. PA is characterized by high neonatal mortality or neurodevelopmental disorders in the child's later life.
