Neodymium(III) Vanadate-Decorated Functionalized Carbon Nanofiber Nanocomposite: An Electrochemical Tool for Tartrazine Monitoring

Aravind Radha,
Sea-Fue Wang

Abstract: Human health is adversely affected by the excessive consumption of substances such as food colorants, exposure to metal ion dosages, antibiotic residues, and pesticide residues above the maximum tolerated levels. Among them, the synthetic food dye tartrazine (TRZ), widely used in various foods, is harmful to human health because of its pathogenicity and toxicity. Neodymium vanadate (NdVO4) nanoparticles embedded in functionalized carbon nanofiber (F-CNF)-modified electrodes serve as sensitive electrodes for TR… Show more

“…The calibration curve constructed corresponding to these changes in Figure b reveals a wide linear range of 0.02–289.2 μM. Using the IUPAC 3σ method (S/N = 3), the limit of detection (LOD) is calculated to be 0.0026 μM. A comprehensive performance comparison of CuMn-LDH-(CO 3 2– )/SPCE with other reported analytical systems listed in Table confirms the superiority of the as-prepared sensor.…”

“…The EIS studies are performed in the 5 mM solution of redox ferricyanide [Fe(CN) 6 ] −3/−4 containing 0.1 M of KCl an electrolyte in the frequency range of 0.1 to 100 kHz. 37 In EIS studies, the inset Nyquist plot plays a significant role for the reason that it provides the following information: (i) solution resistance (R s ) and double layer capacitance (C dl ), (ii) charge transfer resistance (R ct ), and Warburg impedance (Z w ). 46 In Nyquist Plot, R s represents a resistance between zero ohms to the line's beginning point, R ct is represented by the semi-circle, and Z w signifies the straight line in plot.…”

“…36 Carbon nanofibers (CNF) have many significant properties, including a high active surface area, improved stability, a broad voltage window, and a distinct hollow structural design of fibers that provide additional advantages such as enhanced electronic conductivity and strong electrochemical activity. [37][38][39][40] By functionalizing CNFs, they become appropriate for fast electron transport and exhibit higher conductivity than pure CNFs. 7,41,42 Introducing the functionalized CNF into ZnWO 4 which improves the surface properties, and electrochemical conductivity of the composite materials and enhances the electrocatalytic activity towards the electrochemical detection of 3-NLT.…”

“…In recent years, polymer-based composites show potential applications in various fields, such as monitoring, , catalysis, and air pollutants purification . In the catalysis field, one-dimensional polymer nanofiber-supported photocatalysts are paid close attention because of the fact that the nanofibers can immobilize nanosized photocatalysts to avoid aggregation and are easy to separate and reuse. In this work, we synthesized Na 0.5 Bi 0.5 TiO 3 -based catalysts using the solvothermal route.…”
