“…However, several studies suggest that the overall impact of TPP or TTIP in non-member countries should be small. Cheong's results show that the creation of TPP will lead to a decrease in GDP in the rest of the world by 0.07 per cent due to the transition from a more efficient producer outside of TPP to a less efficient exporter in TPP (Cheong, 2013). Estimates by the Peterson Institute, including the potential impact of non-tariff measures, show that if TPPs are implemented, GDP will decrease by about 0.07 per cent of GDP by 2025 (Petri & Plummer, 2016).…”

“…The fifth round of the RCEP negotiation was held in Singapore between 21 and 27 June 2014. The participants in the RCEP FTA negotiations have a total population of over 3 billion people and a trade share There are numerous studies using computable general equilibrium (CGE) modelling, like Lee and Itakura (2014), Cheong (2013), Oduncu, Mavuş and Güneş (2014), Rahman and Cheong (2014) Xin (2014), Narayanan and Sachin (2014), Petri, Plummer and Zhai (2011) quantified the impact of TPP and TTIP on different regions. Cheong and Tongzon (2013) analyze the economic impact of TTP and RCEP and they argue that the TPP should be promoted for its economic value, not for geopolitical purposes, and it should be open to all Asia and Pacific countries, including the People's Republic of China.…”

“…These studies were seen to be quantifying the impact of TPP and TTIP on different regions. Cheong (2013) analyzed the progress on major issues regarding the current TPP negotiations which are being led by the United States, and draws implications for East Asian economic integration. The impact of forming the TPP under three scenarios was estimated using the GDyn, a recursive dynamic computable general equilibrium (CGE) model developed by the Global Trade Analysis Project (GTAP).…”
